E-Hawk JV Splits Final Games Before Holidays

Emmetsburg’s Junior Varsity boys split their final two contests leading up to the holiday break. On Tuesday, Dec. 14, the E-Hawks fell to LeMars by a 27-38 tall,y, but came back to defeat Spencer on Dec. 17 by a 49-30 tally.

In action against LeMars, the E-Hawks trailed 19-16 at halftime and 23-24 after three quarters, but missed some key shots down the line to fall by the 11 point margin.

Jake Jackson would lead the scoring with 13 points and seven board, while Marcus Akridge and Zach Overberg both added four points. Clayton Henderson, Tyler Thornbury and Mike Wolff all scored two points in the effort.

Against the Tigers on Dec. 17, Emmetsburg battled the Tigers even in the first quarter to an 8-8 draw, but pulled away by a 23-14 margin at the break.

The E-Hawks kept up the pressure in the second half, leading 38-25 after three quarters to post the 49-30 win.

Good shooting was the rule, as the E-Hawks hit 17 of 37 from two-point range and four of 11 outside the arc. At the line, Emmetsburg made seven of 10, pulled down 30 rebounds and committed just 13 turnovers on the night.

Mike Wolff would have a breakout night for the E-Hawks with 16 points and seven board. Zach Overberg added 11 points with five boards, while Marcus Akridge added seven points and blocked three shots. Jake Jackson added five points while Clayton Henderson chipped in four points and grabbed six board. Cody Henderson, Trevor Ring and Tyler Thornbury all added two points to the effort, which improved the JV?record to 3-2 on the season.
