Knights Split With Laurens-Marathon
GRAETTINGER – The Graettinger/Terril boys and girls basketball teams split a pair of games at Laurens-Marathon on Thursday night.
The Knight ladies would take a 41-32 victory over the Lady Chargers in their half of the double-dip.
Graettinger/Terril opened with a 10-7 lead after one quarter and held on to a 21-19 advantage at the intermission, before edging out in the third quarter to a 31-24 advantage before posting the 41-32 final margin of victory.
Tiffany Harris would lead the Knights with a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds on the night. Maddy Schany added 10 points to the coffers, while Mariah Girres scored four points. Morgan Matthews added three points, with Hailley Nelson and Brooke Hoffman both scoring two points each.
“The girls played hard on both ends of the floor,”?noted GT Head Coach Roger Conway. “We are showing some improvement with each game and I was very pleased for the girls that they were able to get this nice win.”
It wasn’t the same for the Knight boys, however, as they fell by a 63-33 score to the Chargers.
Graettinger/Terril struggled to get the offense on track, trailing 21-6 after one quarter and 32-17 at the half, before being limited to six points in the third to trail 44-23 going into the final quarter before falling by the 63-33 final margin.
Beau Craig would lead the Knights offensively with 12 points, while Mitch Girres added seven points to the effort. Ty Bisenius added six points, with Eric Hatland and Colin Leiting both scoring four points each. Eric Hatland, Beau Craig and Colin Leiting all pulled down four rebounds in the game.
“We did some good things on offense and defense, but Laurens-Marathon was too athletic and prepared for us to consistently execute with and without the ball,” noted G/T Head Coach Brent Dyhrkopp.
