Lady E-Hawks Battle Hard In Setback At ELC
ESTHERVILLE – With starter Nicole Leuer out with an injury, Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks had to re-shuffle their lineup in a 50-20 setback at the hands of Estherville Lincoln Central on Friday night.
The more experienced Midgets struggled to get their offense on track in the first quarter as Emmetsburg did, with the Lady E-Hawks trailing 8-2 after one quarter of play. ELC?found its’ offense in the second quarter, taking a 20-6 lead over
Emmetsburg as the Lady E-Hawks struggled to get the ball inside against the tenacious ELC?defense.
Trailing by 14 points coming out of the intermission, Emmetsburg continued to struggle against the Midgets’ full court press and against their defense, as they were only able to score five points in the third quarter to trail 40-11 to start the final frame of the contest.
In the final quarter, Estherville Lincoln Central pulled off the press, which allowed Emmetsburg to finally get some penetration inside and tally nine points for the 50-20 final score.
Emmetsburg was led by Paige Naig’s 10 point effort and 10 rebounds for the double-double. Justine Kummer added six points to the effort , while Whitney Kibbie and Faith Schmidt both added two points each. Faith Schmidt would get five rebounds and one steal, while Kaity Degen snagged five boards and made one steal. Aly Berven added two boards and a steal.
The Lady E-Hawks host LeMars in Lakes Conference action Tuesday.
