RUTHVEN – The Raider girls of Ruthven-Ayrshire put up the good fight in a matchup with Harris-Lake Park on Friday night but fell in a 62-39 decision to the Wolves. However, the final score was not indicative of the intensity of the game.

Ruthven-Ayrshire would bother the Wolves on the glass all night long, with rebounding helping to keep the Raiders in the contest and the defense doing its fair share to keep the Lady Wolves out of their rhythm in the contest.

The Raiders would trail 14-8 after the first quarter and were in contention at the intermission, trailing 26-19. In the third quarter, Ruthven-Ayrshire pulled within a pair before running into a brick wall and trailing by seven, 40-33 at the end of the quarter. In the final frame, the Wolves pulled away to take the 62-39 final margin of victory.

Ruthven-Ayrshire’s Sadie Forey would lead all scorers with 20 points on the night, while grabbing seven rebounds. Alesha Sikora added nine points, while Caitlyn Reed tallied six markers. Keely Williamson and Marly Bakken both added two points to the effort.

Alesha Sikora added six boards and three steals to the effort.

“The girls battled hard tonight.,” noted RA?Head Coach Trenton Keefer. “Defensively, we forced them into quite a few turnovers, which is something we wanted to do. We also rebounded extremely well and that something we also wanted to do. Our girls deserve a lot of credit for battling tough all night.”
