E-Hawk JV?Downs Pocahontas Area/PP

Emmetsburg’s E-Hawk Junior Varsity boys opened their season Tuesday, Nov., 30 with a 49-45 victory over the Indians of Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer.

The contest was close the entire way, with Emmetsburg holding a narrow, 25-20 lead at the halftime break before persevering for the 49-45 final margin of victory.

Emmetsburg connected on 21 of 42 shots from inside the arc and made one of eight from outside, while making four of six free throws and pulling down 29 rebounds.

The Indians managed 18 of 54 shots from two-point range and made one of nine three-pointers, along with six of 10 free throws and 28 rebounds.

For the E-Hawks, Mike Wolff led the way with the double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds. Cody Henderson added 10 points and four boards, while Dennis Theesfeld chipped in eight points and made four steals.

Clayton Henderson would score seven points and grabbed four boards while Zach Overburg had six points. Marcus Akridge tallied three points, while Tyler Thornbury added two points and dished out four assists in the winning effort.

‘It was nice to get a win in the first game of the season,”?noted JV?Coach Phil Geelan. “We learned some things and found what we need to work on to improve as the season progresses.”
