Ruthven-Ayrshire Falls In Opener, Down AR
RUTHVEN – The roundball season officially began Tuesday, Nov. 23 for the Ruthven-Ayrshire Raider girls, who came up just shy in a 33-30 loss to Spalding Catholic in Granville.
The season opening game saw Coach Trenton Keefer’s squad being led by Sadie Forey with 15 points, while Alesha Sikora added six points to the effort. Keely Williamson scored five points, while Caitlyn Reed and Shyanne Zaragoza both scored two points in the win.
Emily Moran would pull down eight rebounds in the effort, while Alesha Sikora added seven board and Sadie Forey picked off six carroms. Caitlyn Reed grabbed five boards while Shyanne Zaragoza collected three boards and Keely Williamson added one board.
Zaragoza and Forey both had two steals on the night while Sikora and Moran both added one steal. Caitlyn Reed and Alesha Sikora both dished out one assist each in the effort.
With the season opening jitters out of the way, Ruthven-Ayrshire traveled to Armstrong-Ringsted on Tuesday night and earned a 50-33 win over the Lady Mustangs after holding Armstrong-Ringsted scoreless in the first half with a 28-0 score.
Sadie Forey would lead the Raiders’ offense in the victory, as the senior pumped in 35 points. Alesha Sikora added 11 points to the effort, while Caitlyn Reed chipped in four points and pulled down six rebounds with an assist and steal.
Sadie Forey had five boards and four steals with two assists, while Alesha Sikora had three board, five steals and two assists and Shyanne Zaragoza added three rebounds to the tally.
