Fog Selected As 1A Assistant Coach Of Year

BOONE – A long-time member of the Emmetsburg E-Hawk Football staff will be honored this weekend for his accomplishments. Dave Fog has been an assistant football coach for the last 35 years.

He started his coaching career started at Maple Valley Community Schools as head JV coach from 1977-1979 before coming to Emmetsburg in 1980. He has served as assistant football coach at many levels for the last 31 years, starting as an assistant 9th and 10th grade football coach in 1980 and from 1981-1997, serving as eighth grade coach. From 1998-2005 he was the head ninth grade coach and since 2006, he has led the E-Hawk sophomores

He has compiled a record of 179 wins, 26 losses, and 4 ties in the past 34 years, and has been an integral part of nine state championships and several conference and district championships during his tenure at Emmetsburg.

Not only has Dave Fog been a vital part of the success of many E-Hawk football teams at all levels, he is also is the director of one of the most highly respected high school vocal music programs in the state of Iowa.

As Class 1A Assistant Coach of the year, Fog will be honored during the halftime of the Class 1A State Football Championship game this Saturday, Nov. 20 at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.
