Middle School Runners Compete At State Meet

SAYDEL – A pair of Emmetsburg Middle School athletes competed in the Washburn Cross Country Classic this past weekend and earned solid finishes. The Washburn Classic, held ad Saydel High School outside of Des Moines, is considered the Middle School State Cross Country meet.

Emmetsburg’s Caroline Fantz placed 11th overall in the event with a time of :15.14 and Olivia Smith placed 15th with her time of :15.20.

Both of the E-Hawk eighth grade runners received medals for their placings in the Class 1A portion of the Washburn Classic event.

“These girls worked very hard through their season and deserve a lot of congratulations for their efforts, as well as for going to the Washburn Classic and placing very well,”?noted Middle School Cross Country Coach Dan Dooley. “We will look forward to welcoming the girls to the varsity squad next season.”
