Lady E-Hawks Start, End Post Season

SIOUX?RAPIDS – The second season for Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks started and ended quickly Tuesday night in a 3-1 loss to Sioux Central in the opening round of Class 1A Regional tournament play. The loss ends Emmetsburg’s season at 12-17.

Emmetsburg fell 17-25 in the opening game, but rallied to win game two by a 21-21 score. The Lady E-Hawks battled hard in game three but lost 24-26 and then fell 18-25 in the deciding match. The loss ends the season and closes out the careers of seniors Morgan Vlasman, Nicole Leuer, Chelsey Rouse, Nikki Schany, Hannah Drost, Hillary Pico, Halie Cody and Molli Schmeling.

For Emmetsburg, Nicole Leuer had 24 of 34 hits with 10 kills, 12 digs and made 11 of 11 serves with two aces. Morgan Vlasman added 21 of 30 hits with nine kills, an assist and a dig.

Paige Naig would add 22 of 25 hits with four kills, a solo and two assisted blocks, 18 of 20 serves with two aces and five digs.

Chelsey Rouse chipped in 12 of 15 hits with four kills, assisted on two blocks and added four digs with one assist. Nikki Schany added 18 of 19 serves with three aces and 10 digs.

Miranda Vlasman connected on 24 of 30 hits with six kills, dug out two shouts and made one assist.

Hannah Drost came away with 13 of 13 serves and one ace, six of six hits, seven digs and handed out 24 assists to her teammates.

Hillary Pico made 12 of 13 serves with two aces an dug out 17 shots, while Molli Schmeling added 13 of 13 serves and five digs. Halie Cody rounded out the effort with one service completion and dished out one assist to her teammates.
