E-Hawks Preparing For Parents’ Night
The regular season is winding down fast for the Emmetsburg E-Hawks, with just two games remaining before the post-season. However, the goal for Coach Mike Dunlap’s team has not wavered in the first seven weeks of the season from what it was at the beginning of their campaign – and it’s no different this week.
“Our goal is to be 1-0 at the end of the week,” Dunlap said, as he and the E-Hawks look to this Friday’s challenge, a new face in the form of Alta-Aurelia.
The Warriors will venture onto Duane Twait Field on Friday night for the first time, and will provide yet another challenge and an opportunity for the E-Hawks.
“Alta-Aurelia will come at us defensively in a 5/4 or a 4/4 alignment,”?Dunlap noted. “But on offense, they work out of a double wing, and “A” formations.”
According to Dunlap, the Warriors have good sides on both the offensive and the defensive lines of scrimmage, and with that size, are a physical team to contend with.
“We know they are dominantly a running team, maybe 70-30 to the run, but we have to be ready to expect anything from them,” Dunlap admitted.
Earning a somewhat lopsided win over Sibley-Ocheyedan last Friday, the E-Hawks had to give a solid effort defensively against a quality ball club, and the same type of effort will have to be a starting point for this Friday’s game.
“We have to continue to be very disciplined and play our assignments on Friday night,” Dunlap said. ” There’s nothing else more important for us than to be a focused, disciplined, great effort football team.”
Friday night will also be Parents’ Night for the Emmetsburg E-Hawk football team, when the senior players and their parents will be introduced in ceremonies prior to the start of the game.
