Knights Romp Over Harris-Lake Park
LAKE PARK – Despite a slow start on Friday night, the Knights of Graettinger/Terril got on track to claim a 57-26 victory over the Wolves of Harris-Lake Park Friday night. The victory improves the Knights to a mark of 6-1 overall and 4-1 in Eight-man District two with two weeks remaining in the regular season.
Graettinger/Terril quarterback Eric Hatland had an outstanding night running the Knight offense, as he passed for a quartet of touchdowns and ran in two scores himself in the victorious effort.
There was a lack of offensive performance by the Knights in the first quarter, as they led 8-7 over the Wolves, but in the second stanza, Graettinger/Terril started to find their game. The Knights would tack on a pair of scores early in the second, but Harris-Lake Park answered with one to make the tally 24-15 with just over 4:00 to go in the first half.
But in the final 3:00 of the half, Graettinger/Terril quickly pasted on two more scores to roll up a 38-15 advantage at the intermission.
It would be more of the same for the Knights in the second half of the game, as they would add three more scores to their efforts, starting with a 12-yard pass completion from Hatland to Colin Leiting in the third frame for a score.
Hatland would call his own number once again in the closing stages of the fourth quarter to run in from six yards for the final margin of victory.
The Knights will host Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne in District action.
