Placekick, Punt And Pass Competition This Saturday

After Mother Nature washed out last Saturday’s planned event, the annual Placekick, Punt and?Pass competition will be made up this Saturday, Oct. 2. Registration will begin at 1:15 p.m. with competition to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the old Middle School Football Field in Emmetsburg.

The event is being sponsored once again by the Emmetsburg Parks and Recreation Department.

The Youth Placekick, Punt and Pass competition includes throwing two passes for accuracy and distance, as well as two place kicks and two punts, all for distance and accuracy.

Each contestant attempts to kick, punt or throw as straight as possible, A measurement is taken for straight distance, and points are deducted for distance off to either side of a straight line. The total distances of the three best efforts by each competitor are totaled to determine the winners in the various age groups.

The competition is open to boys and girls between the ages of eight and 13, as of the date of the competition. Boys and girls will compete separately, by age groups.

The top three finishers in each age group, boys and girls, will qualify to advance to the state championships on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Bergstrom Indoor Practice Facility on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames.
