Lady E-Hawks Fall At LeMars

It was a long road trip on Tuesday night for the Emmetsburg Lady E-Hawks as they journeyed to LeMars for Lakes Conference volleyball action. The trip home was a bit longer, as Emmetsburg fell to the Bulldog netters by a 3-1 score to fall to 0-3 in Lakes Conference play on the young season.

Emmetsburg fell in the first two games by scores of 22-25 and 14-25 but came back to win the third game in exciting fashion by a 26-24 score, only to be edged in the fourth game by a 22-25 tally.

 There were lots of battles at the net in the match on Tuesday. Morgan Vlasman would connect on 17 of 24 hits at the net with eight kills, as well as making a solo block and an assisted block. Vlasman also dug out two shots and added one assist to the effort.

Paige Naig would connect on 19 of 23 hits with eight kills and assisted on two blocks, while digging out three shots. At the serving line, Naig added 13 of 14 service completions with one ace serve to her credit.

 Miranda Vlasman would come away with 15 of 17 hits and four kills at the net and assisted with one block while digging out four shots.

Nicole Leuer came up with nine of 15 hits and three kills, while adding 20 of 23 serves and five aces to the tally. Leuer had one assisted block and dug out nine shots for the Lady E-Hawks.

Chelsey Rouse would make nine of 13 hits with three kills in the match, and added an assisted block and one dig, while Nikki Schany made 10 of 12 serves and dug out three shots.

Hannah Drost would connect on 15 of her 16 serving attempts and earned three aces, as well as making five of seven hits with a kill at the net. Drost added four digs on the night, and dished out 22 assists to her teammates in the effort.

Molli Schmeling added 10 of 11 serves and seven digs to the effort while Hillary Pico came away with nine of nine serves and 16 digs, as well as one assist.

As a team, Emmetsburg would complete 77 of 85 service attempts with nine ace serves, and had 74 of 99 hits with 27 kills. There were six assisted blocks and one solo block in the match, 49 digs and 23 assists for the Lady E-Hawks.

Next up for Emmetsburg’s varsity squad will be a trip to Humboldt on Saturday to participate in the Humboldt Invitational. Play begins at 9 a.m.
