E-Hawk Freshmen Gridders Win Pair

Emmetsburg’s E-Hawk Freshman football team has earned a pair of victories on the gridiron in recent contests.

On Monday, Sept. 13, the Freshmen earned their first win of the season in a 50-12 rout of Okoboji at Milford.

Emmetsburg led the contest by a 22-6 margin at the intermission and would cruise to the victory.

Allen Jensen started off with the first touchdown and would go on to lead the young E-Hawks with 62 yards of rushing.

Brandon Elbert also scored in the first quarter with a touchdown and also had the only touchdown in the second quarter.  Elbert would pick up 45 yards rushing and threw for 14 yards in the effort.

Aaron Bird added 86 yards rushing to the winning effort.

Coach Tyler Beving’s squad would collect their second win of the season on Monday, Sept. 20 when they journeyed to Spirit Lake to earn a 32-10 victory over the Indians.

After a close 16-10 halftime lead, Emmetsburg edged away in a defensive shutout to post the victory.

In the first quarter, Brandon Elbert scored first on and 11 yard run and then in the second quarter, Aaron Bird would get a turn, scoring off a one-yard plunge.

The third quarter would be scoreless, but in the final frame, Brady Christensen hauled in a 70 yard reception from Elbert for a touchdown and Aaron Bird would break loose to score off a 78 yard scoring run.

Allen Jensen would gain 36 yards rushing while Aaron Bird gained 152 yards and scored two touchdowns. Bandon Elbert had 70 yards passing with a score and 34 yards rushing with a score. Brady Christensen added a 70 yard reception for a score.
