Ruthven-Ayrshire Hosts Volleyball Tourney Saturday
RUTHVEN – The Ruthven-Ayrshire Raiders hosted their own volleyball tournament Saturday, hosting teams from Harris-Lake Park, Woden-Crystal Lake-Titonka and Graettinger /Terril.
The host Raiders would end the round-robin tournament with a record of 4-4 in games. RA defeated Graettinger/Terril by scores of 14-21, 21-19 and 15-12, then fell to Harris-Lake Park by scores of 18-21 and 8-21 before coming back to defeat Woden-Crystal Lake-Titonka 12-21, 23-21 and 18-16.
All told, Ruthven-Ayrshire was led by Alisha Sikora with 23 of 24 serves with two aces, while Caitlyn Reed added 22 of 23 serves with three aces. Marly Bakken added 15 o 18 serves with four aces, while Sadie Forey made 14 of 18 serves with two aces.
At the net, Sadie Forey had a strong day with 55 of 65 hits with 14 kills, while Kayla Dyer added 29 of 37 hits itched 11 kills, Alesha Sikora had 22 of 25 hits and Caitlyn Reed added 20 of 25 hits with six kills. Kendra Feldman added 19 of 22 hits with three kills and Miranda McGrauth had 16 of 17 hits with two kills.
Alesha Sikora dished out 30 assists on the day and Miranda McGrauth added two and Sadie Forey had one helper, while blocking three shots.
Sadie Forey would dig out 29 shots, wile Caitlyn Reed added 28 digs and Alesha Sikora had 25 digs.
“Saturday turned out to be a pretty decent day for us,”?observed RA?Head Coach Kim Sierck. “Against both Graettinger/Terril and WCLT, we lost one game but rallied to play some exciting matches. In those two matches there was great teamwork and that’s what it takes fo win at volleyball.”
