Wolverines Win Big

WEST?BEND – For the second week in a row, the West Bend-Mallard Wolverines collected some big numbers in a 52-14 victory over Harris-Lake Park in Eight Man District Two play. The win improves the Wolverines to 3-0 on the year and 1-0 in the district race as they prepare to travel to Bode to take on Twin River Valley this Friday night.

West Bend-Mallard got off to a big start off a yard kickoff return score by Ryan Banwart, and then got another strong performance from the offense, directed by quarterback Mitch Bonnstetter as he tallied three touchdowns on the night, while Ryan Banwart added a score and Greg Mader tallied two runs. Bonnstetter would complete four of seven passes for 120 yards and carried the ball 17 times for 1010 yards. Greg Mader added 11 carries for 48 yards in the win and Ryan Banwart had one reception for 42 yards.

West Bend-Mallard would jump out to an 18-0 lead after the first half and then edged out a 32-14 advantage after the third quarter before holding the Wolves  scoreless in the final quarter for the 52-14 final margin of victory.

The Wolverine defense got its  licks in as well, as they held Harris-Lake Park to a negative 10 yards on 39 attempts. Collin Thatcher would intercept an HLP?pass for a 30 yard return, and the defense would get to the HLP?quarterback seven times on the night, with Dylan Zaugg tallied three quarterback sacks and Matt Goeders added a pair of sacks. Tony Bruellman and Logan Streit each added a sack to the effort.

Ryan Banwart had seven tackles and Tanner Bruellman added five stops.
