Wolverines Pitch Homecoming Shutout

WEST?BEND – The Wolverines of West Bend-Mallard capped off Homecoming week in style with a 24-0 shutout over Woden-Crystal Lake/Titonka Friday night. The win gives West Bend-Mallard a 2-0 mark on the season as they prepare to open their district slate on the road  this Friday, traveling to Harris-Lake Park.

West Bend-Mallard would play a solid game on both sides of the football, racking up 342 yards total on the night as opposed to WCLT’s 250 yard total. The Wolverines churned up 267 yards on the turf and added 75 yards through the air.

Ryan Banwart would lead the rushing attack with 96 yards to his credit, while Mitch Bonnstetter gained 93 yards on the ground and had 75 yards passing on the night. Collin Thatcher was the favorite target for the Wolverine quarterback, as he made a pair of receptions totalling 41 yards and added 23 yards rushing offense to the tally.

The defensive charge was led by Mitch Bonnstetter, who picked off three Tiger passes, while Collin Thatcher collected one theft. The Wolverine defenders got in their licks on the ground as well, with Ryan Banwart, Matt Goeders and Dylan Zaugg all recording one sack each.

Ryan Banwart added 11 tackles and Tanner Bruellman tallied nine stops, while Mitch Bonnstetter and Collin Thatcher both added six tackles for the Wolverines.
