Raiders Win Big In Home Opener

RUTHVEN – Returning home to the friendly turf of their own field, the Raiders of Ruthven-Ayrshire used a solid rushing attack against Spalding Catholic Friday night to claim a 53-10 victory. The win evens the Raiders’ record at 1-1 as they prepare to open district play this Friday evening by hosting Twin River Valley.

The Raiders dominated the contest from the onset, as quarterback Trevin Enderson drove the offense masterfully, rushing 17 times to gain 222 yards against Spalding’s defense. Fullback Kyle Toillion would run with authority as well, carrying the ball 27 times in the contest to pick up an additional 101 yards on the ground. Together, Enderson and Toillion would score three touchdowns each, while Michael Sundall and Dylan Smith each crossed the goal line once.

Michael Sundall would gain 17 yards off six carries and Dylan Smith added 26 yards from five carries, while Grant Rehan added a four-yard rushing effort and Garth Wolff came up with three yards to round out the Raiders’ 373 yard rushing effort.

Defensively, Ruthven-Ayrshire would rack up 59 tackles in the victory, with Grant Rehan accounting for a dozen stops to lead the effort. Brandon Long made nine stops, with Colton Bakken adding eight tackles, Kyle Toillion and Treven Enderson both added seven tackles to the effort.

Trevin Enderson intercepted a pass for a nine yard return, while Carter Williamson picked off a pass to pick up four yards and Grant Rehan recovered a fumble for the Raiders.
