Harriers To Open Season At Spirit Lake

By Staff | Aug 24, 2010

Emmetsburg’s Cross Country campaign will begin this evening (Tuesday) with an appearance at the Spencer Invitational at 5 p.m.

For Head Coach Dan Dooley, this season will see two contrasting teams running under the E-Hawk banner.

“I have seen some incredible strength and determination in the last two weeks,” noted Dooley, who is in his third year at Emmetsburg. “The guys seem to be working extra hard at getting better every day and they are all improving.”

But, it’s a little different story for the Lady E-Hawks.

“We have a very young and inexperienced team this year,”?Dooley noted. “Kristi Wurzer is our lone returning junior, along with foreign exchange student Veronkia Schoerner, but they have great potential.”

The girls team will also have four freshmen: Hadley Egland, Maddison Reimer, Taylor Reimer and Rachel Ruddy along with Wurzer and Schoerner.

For the boys, Allen Dunnick is the senior leader, along with juniors Austin Dunnick, Max Jones, Chad Loomis, Zach Overberg and Daniel Pelzer.

Middle School runners will include Jourdaisha Dunnick, Caroline Fanz and Oliva Smith.

“We also welcome a new assistant coach in Vallerie Crutchley,”?Dooley said. “She will definitely be an assent to the team.”
