ESTHERVILLE – While the Iowa Lakes Community College Men’s Basketball team is coming off its third consecutive 20 win season this past year under Head Coach Troy Larson, a former Mallard prep standout, a number of former Iowa Lakes players have finished up successful college careers at some great four-year colleges and universities. One such player is Dalston Jones, a former Emmetsburg High School prep standout.

Dalston Jones, originally from Fenton, played at Iowa Lakes from 2007 to 2009 and has finished up his junior year at Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minn. He graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 2007 after a successful career in E-Hawk athletics.

While playing at Iowa Lakes, Dalston started 44 games in two years and averaged better than four points, two rebounds, four assists and one and a half steals per game.  Dalston also helped Iowa Lakes to a 41-20 mark and a third and fouth place finish in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

Following graduation from Iowa Lakes in 2009, Jones chose to continue his playing and academic career at NCAA Division II Southwest Minnesota State.  Dalston played in 24 of 29 games for the Mustangs and averaged better than 1.5 points, 1 rebound and 1.3 assists while helping SMSU to a 17 and 12 record this past season.
