WBM Girls Eliminated

WEST?BEND – The Lady Wolverines were eliminated from the post season Friday in a 2-1, eight inning loss to Alta.

West Bend-Mallard had won their first tournament game on Thursday in an 8-5 decision over Twin River Valley.

Against the Thunder on Thursday night in Algona, McKenzie Grimm got the win in the circle, as she went four innings and surrendered just four earned runs off six hits with a pair of strikeouts. Courtney Bargman came in to relieve and pitched three innings, giving up one earned run off three hits with one strikeout.

Jessie Abrahamson would belt out a double for the Lady Wolverines, while Brittany Gambell added two-RBI single to the winning effort.

Advancing to Friday’s Regional Semi-final, West Bend-Mallard battled through eight innings before Alta would be able to score the winning run that ended the Lady Wolverines’ season prematurely.

McKenzie Grimm would pitch all eight innings on Friday, and surrendered the two runs, one earned, off four hits by the Cyclones, while striking out nine Alta batters.

West Bend-Mallard would struggle on offense, coming up with just two hits, as McKenzie Grimm would have an RBI?single and Wendy Grimm would add a base hit to the effort and scored the only run for West Bend-Mallard.
