The regular season came to a close Tuesday night for the Emmetsburg E-Hawks in an 11-1 loss to Estherville Lincoln Central. The five-inning loss ends the E-Hawks’ regular season with a winless mark in the Lakes Conference at 0-14 and a 1-22 overall mark.

But Emmetsburg can’t commiserate as they open the post-season Saturday night, July 10, meeting Okoboji in the Class 2A District tourney at Estherville in a 5 p.m. game.

Tuesday’s game was a rough one for the E-Hawks, who went through four pitchers in the shortened contest. Brady Berkland took the start and went two innings, giving up two earned runs off two hits, with one strikeout. Austin Oppenheimer would relieve in the third, giving up an earned run off a hit with one strikeout.

Jake Jackson pitched the fourth inning and also gave up an earned run off two hits with one strikeout, while Jake Carlson pitched the final inning and gave up one hit.

Emmetsburg was held to a pair of hits in the contest, as Austin Oppenheimer and Ryan Kliegl both collected base hits, with Oppenheimer working his way around the basepaths to score the E-Hawks’ lone run of the contest to conclude the regular season.
