Just because the name says it’s BAD?doesn’t accurately describe the fun and fellowship of the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce’s 11th annual BAD?Golf Outing, which was held Friday, June 4. A total of 77 golfers turned out under beautiful blue skies at the Five Island Golf Club to play golf and have fun on a day designed for just that.

BAD, which stands for Business Appreciation Day, was designed as an opportuinty to bring businesses and the public together in a way to promote the sense of community.

The original BAD Golf outing began back in 1999 as a way of bringing business people and area residents together for an afternoon of fellowship and has grown into a very popular activity of the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce.

Winners of the event for this year was the team from Iowa Trust & Savings Bank, comprised of John Spies, John Gannon and Matt Mueller, who shot a 31.

Second place honors went to the threesome of Scott Wirtz, Todd Ditch and Nick Steinkamp, who shot a 32. Third place honors were  claimed by the City of Emmetsburg team, comprised of John Bird, Steve Finer and Steve Heldt, who shot a round of 33.
