Wuebker, Dupic Earn Post-Season Honors
STORM?LAKE – A former Emmetsburg standout is one of five Buena Vista baseball players to land a spots on one of the three 2010 Rawlings/ABCA All-Central Region Teams with one more earning a spot on the All-Region Gold Glove Team.
Sophomore pitcher Ryan Wuebker of Ayrshire was named to the First Team, along with senior teammate Brandon Pietrzyk and junior Kevin Kloewer, while junior Luke Probasco landed Second Team honors.
Wuebker, the son of Wayne and Karen Wuebker of Ayrshire, was one of five pitchers to earn a spot on the team, and he did so after posting a 10-2 mark for the year. As the Beavers entered the NCAA Regional Tournament he had won nine straight starts. His 10 wins tie the school record for a single-season, matching a record first set back in 1976 by Larry Frakes, with that mark being the second-highest total among all pitchers in the region during the 2010 season.
Overall, Wuebker pitched 66.2 innings and struck out 45 hitters, while walking only 16. His six wins in conference-play ranked second, trailing on the Pitcher of the Year, Alec Lewis by one.
Wuebker wasn’t the only former E-Hawk earning post season honors at BVU.
Kyle Dupic, a junior Math Education major, was named to the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
Dupic, the son of Rick and Carol Dupic, earned a 3.71 Grade Point Average during the school year.
