Lady Wolverines Qualify Events For State Track Championships
LAURENS – The West Bend-Mallard/Twin River Valley girls will send five entries to this week’s State Track Championships after the Class 1A Regional Track meet Friday in Laurens.
The Lady Wolverines will send their 4×200 relay, with Meredith Collins, Kaley Lempke, Shayla Simms and Kenzie Grimm to state, with a 1:51.56 time that was second at the Regional meet. Brooke Bennett qualified for state in the 3000 meter run with a first place finishing time of 12:27.08 in the event.
Also qualifying for state will be Missy Abrahamson in both the shot put and discus, as she finished first in the discus throwing 117’6” and second in the shot put, throwing 37’3.75”. Rounding out the qualifiers for the Lady Wolverines will be Jessica Abrahamson in the shot put, as she finished third with a throw of 34’6.5” to qualify for the state meet.
In the 100 meter Dash, Meredith Collins was seventh in :13.33 and in the 200 meters, Kenzie Grimm was third with a:27.44 and Collins placed seventh in :28.40.
Amanda Frieden was second in the 400 meter dash in :68.39 and Kayla Banwart was third in :69.05, while Erin Larsen was fourth in the 800 meters in 2:47.79 and Sarah Berte was seventh in t 2:58.64.
Brooke ?Bennett was third in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:37.53. In the 400 hurdles, Bailey Cavanaugh was fifth in :79.30 and Elsie How was seventh in :85.19.
The Shuttle Hurdle Relay, with Cavanaugh, Jamie Klepper, Elsie How and Melanie Vote, finished fifth in 1:24.40, while the 4 x100 relay, with Colins, Lempke, Simms and Kenzie Grimm, was fourth in a time of :53.27.
The 4×400 relay, Missy Abrahamson, Simms, Kaylee Lanus, and Kenzie Grimm, took second in 4:30.51 while the 4×800 relay, comprised of Erin Larsen, Amanda Frieden, Sarah Berte and Kaylee Lanus placed fifth in a time of 11:10.02.
The Sprint Medley, with Jenny Auten, Megan Foth, Wendy Grimm and Amanda Frieden, finished third in a time of 2:05.33 and the Distance Medley, with Auten, Foth, Wendy Grimm nd Erin Larsen, placed fourth in a time of 4:49.55.
Amanda Frieden tied for fourth in the high jump, clearing 4’6” and Haley Hiscocks placed eighth in the discus, throwing the platter 88’.
