E-Hawks Finish Seventh At Lakes Conference Meet

LEMARS – It was a tough night for the Emmetsburg E-Hawks at Tuesday’s Lakes Conference track meet, as the E-Hawks placed seventh out of the eight-team field of competitors. Emmetsburg missed out on an All Conference finish with a stumble in a hurdle event and came home close, but empty handed for extra honors.

In the high jump, Ryan Kliegl would finish sixth by clearing 5’8” in the competition, and in the long jump, Jake Morris jumped 18’6.5” to finish in fifth place. Shot putters Tyler Henderson took tenth place with a throw of 40’ and Andrew Garrelts finished 12th, throwing 39’1”. In the discus, Garrelts threw 107’5” for 13th place and Jake Hutchinson threw the platter 99’10” to finish 14th.

The shuttle hurdle relay, with Joey Naig, Jake Stubbs, Ryan Kliegl and Jake Morris, suffered an early setback when Naig went down on a hurdle early, but the group battled back to finish third in a time of 1:07.16.

In the 100 meter dash, Cory Schultes finished seventh in a time of :11.82, while in the 400 meter dash, Justin Studer placed 11th with a :56.65 time and Chad Loomis was 14th in a time of :58.15.

The E-Hawks’ 4×200 meter relay, with Brady Berkland, Ryan Kliegl, Jake Stubbs and Cory Schultes, placed sixth in 1;39.54. Joey Naig was sixth in the 110 high hurdles in :17.01 and Jake Morris was seventh in :17.19. Cory Schultes would finish the 200 meter dash in :23.70, good for a fourth place finish, while Austin Oppenheimer placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:01.44 and Joey Naig was seventh in a time of 1:01.92.

The E-Hawk Distance Medley relay, with Jake Morris, Jake Stubbs, Justin Studer and Bobby Gappa, placed seventh in a time of 4:05.36.

Bobby Gappa would place 11th in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:23.43, while the 4×100 relay, with Brady Berkland, Ryan Kliegl, Jake Stubbs and Cory Schultes, would finish fifth in a time of :46.93 and the 4×400 relay, with Andrew Wellik, Austin ?McCartan, Clayton Henderson and Chad Loomis, finished seventh with a time of 4:03.58.

The E-Hawks will compete in the Class 2A District track and field meet at Garner this Friday.
