WBM/TRV?Girls Win Conference Meet
WEST?BEND – West Bend-Mallard/Twin River Valley’s girls track and field squad captured the Cornbelt Conference Track Meet on Tuesday, May 4, and crowned a four-time conference champion in the process.
Missy Abrahamson earned championships in both the shot and discus at the meet and became a four-time Conference Champion in the discus with a throw of 102’5.5”. She also won the shot put with a throw of 36’5.5”.
Shayla Simms won the 100 meter dash in :14.08 and Kenzie Grimm won the 200 meter dash in :28.09, while the 4×200 relay, with Shayla Simms, Kaley Lempke, Meredith Collins and Kenzie Grimm took first with a 1:55.71 effort.
The Sprint ?Medley, with Jenny Auten, Kaley Lempke, Wendy Grimm and Amanda Frieden also took first in 2:04.16, while the 4×100 relay, with Shayla Simms, Megan Foth, Kaley Lempke and Kenzie Grimm, took first in :53.218 and the 4×400 relay, with Missy Abrahamson, Kaylee Lanus, Kayla Banwart and Kenzie Grimm earned first place in 4:40.32.
Haley Hiscocks took second in the shot put with a 31’9.5” throw and Amanda Frieden took second in the high jump, clearing 4’6”. Brooke Bennett finished second in the 400 meters in :12.34.98, while Meredith Collins took second in the 100 meter dash in :14.21 and Brooke Bennett was second in the 1500 meter run in 5:56.99.
The 4×800 relay, comprised of Amanda Frieden, Sarah Berte, Cassie Schneider and Haley Hiscocks, took third place honors with a time of 12:31.79, while the Distance Medley, with Jenny Auten, Megan Foth, Kayla Banwart and Brooke Bennett, took third place with their time of 5:04.00.
Bailey Cavanaugh earned fourth in the 400 hurdles with a time of :79.51, while Sara Foley was fourth in the 1500 in a time of 6:14.89. Meredith Collins took fourth in the 200 meter dash in :29.55, while Sara Foley placed fourth in the 3000 meter run in a time of 12:41.93 and Haley Hiscocks earned fourth in the discus, throwing 83’3.5”.
The Shuttle Hurdle Relay, with Bailey Cavanaugh, Jamie Klepper, Elsie How and Melanie Vote also earned a fourth place finish in a time of 1:27.41.
Kayla Banwart would place fifth in the long jump with a leap of 13’7.5” while Kaylee Lanus was fifth in the 400 meter dash in a time of :73.72 and Elsie How finished out the placings for the Lady Wolverines with a sixth place effort in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of :21.04.
