Lady E-Hawks Finish Second In Own Relays

Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks earned a second place finish in their own invitational relays Thursday, finishing 32 points behind Spencer in the team race. The Lady E-Hawks claimed a pair championships in the event, including a new relays record by Senior Blake Schany.

Schany bested the existing Lady E-Hawk Relays mark in the 400 hurdles on Thursday with her winning time of 1:09.63. Also picking up a first place finish was the Shuttle Hurdle Relay, with  Nicole Leuer, Katie Malm, Blake Schany and Jordan Morris, who finished with a time of 1:08.70.

Coach Dan Dooley’s squad also picked up several second place finishes, starting with Rachael Moore in the1500 meter run with her time of 5:20.26, and Jordan Kerber in the 100 meter dash with a time of :13.51. Morgan Vlasman earned second in the 200 meter dash with a time of :28.90 and Rachael Moore also finished second din the 800 meter run with a 2:34.67 clocking.

Nichole Hasbrouck earned a second place finish in the discus, throwing the platter 104’8” and Emmetsburg’s Distance Medley Relay, with Shelby Brindley, Whitney Kibbie, Molli Schmeling and Rachael Moore, earned second place honors with their time of 4:35.08.

Emmetsburg’s 4×100 relay, with Jordan Kerber, Katie Malm, Maddison Woodruff and Nicole Leuer, turned in a :53.98 clocking to earn third place honors, while the 4×200 relay, with Maddison Woodruff, Katie Malm, Kaity Degen and Morgan Vlasman, earned third place in a time of 1:53.52.  Shelby Brindley finished third in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:39.34.

Tayler Bruns would finish fourth in the 1500 meter run in a time of 5:55.51 and Morgan Vlasman earned fifth place in the high jump, clearing 4’8” and Jordan ?Morris earned a fifth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles with her time  of :17.35.

The Sprint Medley Relay, comprised of Jordan Kerber, Nicole Leuer, Maddison Woodruff and Kaity Degen, took fifth place with a time of 1:59.59, while the 4×400 relay, with Shelby Brindley, Kaitlin Weisbrod, Molli Schmeling and Blake Schany, finished fifth in a time of 4:35.14.

The foursome of Molli Schmeling, Tayler Bruns, Kristi Wurzer and Caroline Flom finished fifth in the 4×800 relay with their time of 11:45.47 and Whitney Kibbie earned a sixth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of :17.43.

 Kaitlin Weisbrod  claimed a seventh place finish in the 400 meter dash with her time of 1:07.85 and Hillary Pico claimed eighth place in the shot put with a throw of 27’11”. Alyson Berven took ninth place overall in the 100 meter dash with a :14.47 clocking, while Kinsey Anderson finished tenth in the discus with a throw of 75’4”.

Whitney Kibbie would earn tenth place in the 200 meter dash with a time of :30.97 and Molli Schmeling rounded out the Lady E-Hawk finishes with a 1:12.73 effort in the 400 meter dash, good for 12th place.

With the Lakes Conference Meet being postponed to tonight (Tuesday) in LeMars, the Lady E-Hawks will conclude the week at the 2A Regional Track and Field Meet on Friday, May 14, at Garner-Hayfield High School in Garner. First and second place finishes at each Regional meet, along with the next eight statewide performances, qualify for the 2010 Iowa State Track and Field Championships at Drake University in Des Moines on May 20-22.
