E-Hawks Compete At Storm Lake

STORM?LAKE – Emmetsburg’s E-Hawks competed at the Storm Lake Invitational last Thursday and came home with several strong efforts.

Joey Naig would bring home the top finish with a second place effort in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:00.30 for second place. Teammate Austin Oppenheimer would take fourth in the event with a time of 1:01.54.

Jake Morris took third in the long jump, leaping 18’9”, while teammate Brady Berkland was fifth with a leap of 18’4.25”. Ryan Kliegl finished third in the high jump, clearing 5’8” while Justin Firkins cleared 5’6” to finish in fifth place.

Emmetsburg’s shuttle hurdle relay team took second place honors with its time of 1:01.44 and the 4×200 relay would finish in third place.

 Brady Berkland finished in sixth place in the  100 meter dash on Thursday with a time of :11.70, while Corey Schultes was right behind him with an :11.77, good for seventh place. Schultes would also earn sixth place honors in the 200 meter dash, finishing with a :23.82 clocking.

The E-Hawk x relay took third place honors with a time of :46.16 while Tyler Henderson finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 40’. Arik Kerr would finish 13th in the shot put with his effort of 35’11”. In the discus, Andrew Garrelts threw the platter 101’5” for a ninth place finish and Jacob Hutchinson was 12th, throwing the disc 81’0.5”.

Zach Overberg finished sixth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:45.40, while the 4×400 relay finished sixth in a time of 3:54.61. The 4×800 relay would finish eighth in a time of 9:49.32 and the Distance Medley relay finished the day with a 4:12.39 effort for eighth place.

Emmetsburg resumes action this afternoon (Tuesday) with an appearance in the Hackbarth Relays at Algona. On Thursday, the E-Hawks will travel to Spencer for a meet.
