Lady E-Hawk Golfers Down LeMars, Western Christian

Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks collected a huge Lakes Conference victory Tuesday night with a win over LeMars and Hull Western Christian in a Lakes Conference Triangular at LeMars. The Lady E-Hawks claimed the win with a 182 stroke total, while LeMars finished with a 193 and Western was incomplete with just three varsity golfers.

Ashley Pelzer edged teammate Jenny Hoch for the meet medalist honors, as both Lady E-Hawks shot rounds of 44 on the Burnsville course. Krista Peaslee and Lauren Zimmerman both shot rounds of 47, while Megan Myers carded a 48 and Hannah Drost added a 50 to the tally.

Emmetsburg’s junior varsity players also got in nine holes on Tuesday and scored well, with Amanda Pugh, Paige Naig and Nikki Schany all shooting rounds of 55. Chelsey Rouse added a 57 and Amanda Walters shot a 60. Justine Kummer carded a 59 and Katie Kassel added a70 to round out the evening’s scoring.

“We’re seeing a lot of competition for the varsity spots of late,”?noted Emmetsburg Head Coach Ted Riley, “And that’s a nice problem to have for a coach.”

Emmetsburg will host Humboldt this afternoon ((Thursday) at the Five Island Golf Club, and then will host the Palo Alto County Girls ?Golf meet on Friday afternoon, with Ruthven-Ayrshire and West Bend-Mallard participating in the event along with the Lady E-Hawks.
