E-Hawk Golfers Edge LeMars, HWC

Emmetsburg’s E-Hawks edged out LeMars and Hull Western Christian in a Lakes Conference triangular Monday at LeMars. The E-Hawks shot a 159, slipping past the Bulldogs with a 160 and Western Christian with a 171.

The E-Hawks’ Ben McCain captured the medalist honors on Monday, shooting a 37 to lead the way. Tanner Dowling of LeMars followed with a 38 for the runner-up honors.

After McCain’s round of 37, the E-Hawks got a 39 from Arthur Heldt and a 41 from Nate Brown. Matt Ballman added a 42, while Tyler Clasing shot a 44 and Justin Kibbie added a 46.

Emmetsburg also captured the Junior Varsity contest, shooing a 181, while LeMars carded a 192 and Western Christian shot a 200. The E-Hawks captured both medal and runner up honors for the JV, as Jake Jackson and Josh Kibbie both shot rounds of 44. Austin Bonnstetter shot a 4, while Tyler Drost shot a 47 and Taylor Wegner and Nick Schany both carded rounds of 48.

On Saturday, the E-Hawks played in the Lakes Invitational and finished fifth. Justin Kibbie led the effort with rounds of 43 and 43 for an 86, while Nick Schany shot a 447 and a 47 for a 91. Ben McCain carded rounds of 45 and 47 for a 92, while Jake Jackson shot a 47 and 45 for a round of 92.

Tyler Clasing shot rounds of 48 and 46 for a 94 and Taylor Wegner shot rounds of 52 and 52 for a 104 stroke total.

The E-Hawks will travel to Spring Hills Country Club in Mallard on Friday to play in the Palo Alto County Tournament.
