Strube Selected As Honorary Referee

By Staff | Apr 27, 2010

This afternoon’s running of the Clint Stille Emmetsburg E-Hawk Relays will feature a special recognition for a long-time supporter of Emmetsburg High School athletics.

The Emmetsburg Community School District is proud to recognize the Honorary Referee for the 2010 Clint Stille E-Hawk Relays, Mr. Max Strube. Max has been a long time supporter of E-Hawk sports.

An athlete himself at Buena Vista University, Max continued his love of sports when he moved to Emmetsburg in 1979 with his wife Sue.  At that time, he was employed with Farm Bureau Financial Services and remained there for 20 years.  In 1998, Max went to work for Brenton Bank as an investment broker, and in 2001 he became a financial advisor for Central Financial Group in Emmetsburg, where he is currently employed.

While in the Emmetsburg community, Max has always been an advocate for sports. He is a former member of the Emmetsburg Little League Board and also coached Little League baseball and youth basketball.  For many years, Max has volunteered his time to work the E-Hawk Relays and various wrestling meets.  In addition, he is a former member of the E-Hawk chain gang for the football team and has officiated for AAU basketball tournaments.

Max is also community-minded in areas besides sports.  He was the chairman of the Building Committee for the School Bond issue in 2007.

In his spare time Max enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, and spending time with his family.  Max’s wife Sue is employed as a high school history teacher and middle school girls track coach.  Max and Sue have three sons who distinguished themselves as E-Hawk athletes over the years.  Zach, an asset manager for PNC Financial Group, and his wife Kellie live in Lenexa, Kansas.  Drew, a personal trainer for Aspen Athletic Club, and his fiance Jaci live in West Des Moines, and Taylor, a strength coach at Eastern Illinois University, resides in Charleston, Illinois. Max and Sue continue to be avid supporters and fans of the E-Hawks.

The Clint Stille E-Hawk Relays will begin at 5 p.m. this afternoon, Tuesday, April 27, with Field Events at the Emmetsburg High School athletic complex.
