Emmetsburg Golfers Fall In Trianuglar

SPIRIT?LAKE?- The Emmetsburg E-Hawk golfers struggled Monday in a Lakes Conference triangular at Spirit Lake, falling to Spencer and Spirit Lake. Spencer won with a 148, while Spirit Lake narrowly edged the E-Hawks, 173-174.

Spencer’s Jay Monihan took the medal honors with a 36, with Jordan Oltman shooting a 37 for the Spencer medal sweep.

Emmetsburg was paced by the 41 of Tyler Clasing. Arthur Heldt and Nate Brown both turned in rounds of 44, while Ben McCain and Matt Ballman both shot rounds of 45 and Justin Kibbie carded a 46.

In the junior varsity portion of the match, Emmetsburg took the win to remain undefeated on the season. The young E-Hawks shot a 184 to Spencer’s 186 and Spirit Lake’s 215.

Emmetsburg’s Tayler Wegner carded a 39 to take the JV medal honors, with Spencer’s John Labernik shooting a 44 for runner-up honors.

Other Emmetsburg JV scoring had Josh Kibbie with a 47 and Jake Jackson with a 48. Nick Schany and Austin Bonnstetter both shot 50’s and Tyler Drost added a 52 to the effort.

The E-Hawk golfers will return to action on Monday when they host Hull Western Christian and LeMars in a Lakes Conference triangular.
