Thinclads Run At Spirit Lake
Emmetsburg’s E-Hawk track and field athletes participated in Tuesday’s Spirit Lake Co-Ed meet, where the E-Hawks came home with a seventh place finish in the team standings.
Leading the way for the E-Hawks was the shuttle hurdle relay, as the quartet of Jake Morris, Ryan Kliegl, Jake Stubbs and Joey Naig, won the competition with a time of 1:09.
Jake Morris would come up with a second place finish in the 110 high hurdles on Tuesday, as he finished with a :15.76 clocking, while teammate Joey Naig was fourth with a time of :16.65 in the event.
Cory Schultes took third place honors in the 100 meter dash for the E-Hawks, finishing with an :11.37 clocking. Schultes would then turn around and place third in the 200 meter dash, finishing with a :23.4 time, while teammate Brady Berkland would finish sixth with his :24.02 clocking.
Emmetsburg’s 4×100 relay, comprised of Cory Schultes, Ryan Kliegl, Jake Stubbs and Brady Berkland, took third place in the event with a time of :46.66, and the same quartet of athletes would finish fifth in the 4×200 relay, with a :38.31 effort.
In the 400 meter hurdles, Austin Oppenheimer would finish sixth overall with a time of :62.41, while Joey Naig was a few ticks back in seventh place with a :62.65 effort.
Ryan Kliegl would earn sixth place in the high jump, clearing 5’6” and Tyler Henderson rounded out Emmetsburg’s performances with a sixth place finish in the shot put, as he threw 40’1/2”.
The E-Hawks return to action this Friday, April 16, when they travel to Estherville for the Estherville Relays at Hoyt Luithly Field.
