E-Hawk Golfers Open Season With Win Over GT

The golf season opened under partly sunny skies Friday for both the Emmetsburg E-Hawks and the Graettinger/Terril Knights at the Five Island Golf Course in Emmetsburg. The dual ended in a win for the E-Hawks and new head coach Kort Freeman, as they defeated the Knights 166-184 in the varsity match.

Meet medalist honors were won by Emmetsburg’s Arthur Heldt over teammate Matt Ballman, as both E-Hawks shot rounds of 40 during the meet, but Heldt won a playoff for the medal honors, with Ballman taking the runner-up award.

Other scores for Emmetsburg included Nate Brown with a 42, Tyler Clasing with a 44, Ben ?McCain with a 45 and Justin Kibbie with a round of 49.

For Graettinger/Terril, Cody Dyhrkopp led the Knights with a round of 43, while Ryan Schany carded a 46. Blaze Alesch followed with a round of 47, while Mitch Girres carded a 48. Zach Harris shot a round of 53 and Quinn Parker rounded out the varsity effort with a 66 stroke score.

Emmetsburg’s Junior Varsity saw Jake Jackson shoot a 43, while Nick Schany carded a 44. Austin Bonnstetter shot a 47 and Taylor Wegner turned in a 52. Tyler Drost shot a round of 54 and Josh Kibbie carded a round of 56.

Graettinger/Terril got a round of 56 from  Tanner Naig as their only junior varsity player.
