Lady E-Hawks To Host “Pink Out” Breast Cancer Awareness Game
Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks haven’t officially started their upcoming season, but plans are in place to start the season with a very special event.
On Wednesday, May 26, the Lady E-Hawk Softball team will be hosting a Pink Out Night at the Emmetsburg Softball Diamond. The Eagles of Garner-Hayfield will be the opponents as the Lady E-Hawks will don pink uniforms in an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer.
As part of the Pink Out game, the Lady E-Hawks are selling special commemorative Pink Out T-Shirts, which are available from any softball player, or by contacting any of the school offices.
The Pink Out Night will feature both varsity and junior varsity softball games, with the JV contest starting at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game to follow.
A pair of Honorary Captain/Coaches will be selected prior to the games.
“These games have become very popular events around the country,”?noted Emmetsburg Head Coach Travis Birkey. “The girls are very excited to be playing a Pink Out game because everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer or have been directly affected themselves.”
All the money raised through the Pink Out game will stay in Palo Alto County to help with cancer research efforts.
