Sikora Earns All State Honors

A member of the Ruthven-Ayrshire Raiders was accorded special honors at the conclusion of the 2009-2010 basketball season. Ryan Sikora, the son of Susan and Ron Sikora of Ruthven, was named to the Iowa Newspaper Association’s Class 1A Second Team All State Team. The honor was bestowed following voting by members of the media, based on nomoinations by media and coaches.

Sikora, a 6’4” senior for Coach Randy Hough and the Raiders, amassed 391 points during the recently completed season, an average of 19.6 points per game. Sikora connected on 163 of 289 field goal attempts inside the arc, 56.4 percent shooing, and from outside the arc, hit 15 of 45 shots for 33.3 percent. At the charity stripe, Sikora made 50 of 78 free throws for 64.1 percent accuracy.

Sikora was also a defensive factor for the Raiders, as he pulled down 166 rebounds, an average of 8.3 boards per game, and made 51 steals while blocking 26 shots. Sikora also handed out 139 assists to his teammates during the season.
