G/T Campaign Comes To A Close
LAKE PARK – The second season ended Thursday night for Graettinger/Terril’s girls’ basketball team in a 54-50 decision to Harris-Lake Park. The season ends for Coach Roger Conway’s club with an overall mark of 6-11, with a Cornbelt Conference mark of 3-6 and Divisional record of 3-5.
The game was evenly played through the first quarter, with Graettinger/Terril trailing 16-12 after the first frame. But in the second quarter, the Knight offense hit a rugged stretch and saw HLP edge out to an 11 point, 27-16 lead at the halftime break. The deficit would grow to 13 points early in the third quarter, but Graettinger/Terril would show the start of a rally as the third frame ended in an 11 point deficit, 43-32.
Graettinger/Terril started hitting its shots in the final quarter and cut the Wolves’ lead down to tie the game with less than a minute to go, but Harris-Lake Park would come up with a final shot for the four-point victory to end GT’s season.
Tasha Neilson would tally a double-double in her final prep contest as she scored 11 points and pulled down 12 rebounds while making two steals. Morgan Matthews tallied 12 points and dished out four assists, while Amanda Oleson added 11 points and dished out three assists. Dakota Hovinga added eight points with five assists and a pair of steals and Lindsay Flaharty added eight points with three assists.
