By Staff | Feb 16, 2010

Emmetsburg’s regular season finale didn’t pan out as hoped for by Coach Mike Brennan and the Emmetsburg E’Hawks. In a matchup against Spirit Lake on Thursday night, the E’Hawks suffered from dismal shooting in a 54-48 loss to the Indians.

Emmetsburg got out to a 17-10 lead after one quarter, but trailed 20-19 at the break, before the visiting Indians took a 36-32 lead after the third quarter.

The E’Hawks tried to make a run at Spirit Lake in the final quarter and cut the Indians’ lead to a deuce at 48-46 with 2:00 to go.

However, the Indians would edge out with time running out to take the 54-48 win.

Emmetsburg was led by Nick Wuebker’s 18 points, while Cory Schultes, Nate Brown and Tommy Kuecker all scored seven points. Jake Carlson added four points, while Ryan Kliegl had three and Kyle Elbert added two points.

The E’Hawks finish at 13-7 overall and 7-7 in the Lakes Conference.
