E’Hawks Fall To Western Christian
Emmetsburg’s E’Hawks fell to Western Christian by an 81-43 margin in Lakes Conference boys basketball action Friday night. The loss drops the E’Hawks to a 13-6 overall on the season and 7-6 in the Lakes campaign.
The Wolfpack showed why they are the top squad in the Lakes on Friday as they came to Emmetsburg and shut the E’Hawks down offensively. Emmetsburg trailed 22-8 after one quarter of play and faced a 43-16 deficit at the intermission. Things got no better in the second half, as Western Christian cruised out to a 67-30 lead after three quarters on their way to recording the 81-43 final victory.
Emmetsburg was led by Nick Wuebker’s 14 point effort, while Nate Brown added five points. Tommy Kuecker, Cory Schultes and Steven Heddinger all added four points to the tally, while Bobby Gappa and Kyle Elbert both came up with three points. Jacob Carlson and Ryan Kliegl rounded out the scoring with two points each.
Nick Wuebker pulled down seven rebounds for the E’Hawks and dished out five assists along with Ryan Kliegl.
After having their Monday night game with North Sentral Kossuth postponed due to weather, the E’Hawks hope to host Spirit Lake in a boys-only contest tonight (Tuesday) at Emmetsburg, weather permitting.
