Raiders Even Series With Knights
GRAETTINGER – After falling to the Knights of Graettinger/Terril on their home floor in Ruthven earlier in the season, the Ruthven-Ayrshire Raiders returned the favor and claimed a 50-46 win over the Knights in Graettinger Tuesday night.
The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams matching bucket for bucket, with the Raiders taking the 10-9 lead at the end of one quarter of play. The exchange would continue on in the second quarter, but it was the Knights’ turn to take the one point advantage at the intermission with a 21-20 lead.
In the second half the two clubs came out and picked up right where they left off, It was Ruthven-Ayrshire’s turn to lead at the end of the third quarter, 36-35.
The battle continued as the clock ticked down, and with just under 5:00 to go, a shot by G/T’s Cody Chapman tied the game up at 38.
Ruthven-Ayrshire would retake the lead with two quick scores, but the Knights answered back for a 42-40 score.
RA tacked on another bucket, only to have GT answer with a three-ball for a 44-43 score with just over 1:00 to go in the game. The Raiders put two more shots in the hole, but a three-pointer for the Knights kept them in the thick of things. But, with :22 to go, the Knights’ Cody Dyhrkopp was fouled, but missed the two game-tying shots at the charity stripe that would give the Raiders the thrilling win.
Ruthven-Ayrshire got 18 points from Ryan Sikora, while Mark Geelan added 10 points to the effort. Logan Fischer chipped in eight points, while Colton Bakken and Trevin Enderson both added six points and Zach Loring added two points.
For Graettinger/Terril, Cody Chapman reeled off 16 points and Cody Dyhrkopp added 10 points to the effort. Beau Craig had nine points, while Eric Hatland scored six points and Colin Leiting added four points, with Jesse Nissen scoring a free throw.
