Raiders Split With MMC?Eagles

RUTHVEN – Ruthven-Ayrshire’s Raiders earned another win Friday night on the hardwood with a 67-55 victory over Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn. The win gives the Raiders a mark of 11-1 overall on the season. For the Raider girls, however, it was a different outcome, as RA?fell by a 53-23 score to drop to 4-10 overall on the season.

Coach Trenton Keefer’s ball club struggled with its’ offense all evening, falling behind 14-6 after one quarter and 26-8 at the intermission. The Raiders trailed 44-16 after three quarters and would score five points in the final quarter for the 53-23 final.

Sadie Forey led the offense with 11 points, while Shyanne Zaragosa added four points. Caitlyn Reed had three points, while Keely Williamson and Faith Schmidt both had two points and Alesha Sikora added a free throw.

Faith Schmidt had six rebounds, while Sadie Forey grabbed five boards and Alesha Sikora dished out two assists to her teammates.

Coach Randy Hough’s Raiders went after the Eagles’ zone defense in the first half of action, and got good shots throughout the first two quarters of play, as they scored 18 points in the opening quarter and 22 points in the second quarter.

Ruthven-Ayrshire was able to add 11 points to their total in the third quarter and finished off the game with 16 points in the final quarter for the 67-55 win.

Three players scored in double figures for the Raiders, with Ryan Sikora leading all scores with 25 points. Mark Geelan followed with 16 points, while Colton Bakken added 10 points to the effort. Zach Loring scored eight points, with Logan Fischer and Trevin Enderson both adding four points to round out the offensive efforts.

On defense, Ryan Sikora pulled down five rebounds, and dished out 11 assists to his teammates and blocked three shots. Zach Loring and Mark Geelan both issued three assists to their teammates in the win.

The Raiders are slated to host the Mavericks of Clay Central-Everly tonight (Tuesday) weather permitting, and then host West Bend-Mallard this Friday for the annual Parents Night game in Ruthven.
