Raiders Continue Winning Ways

RUTHVEN – Ruthven-Ayrshire’s Raider boys and girls picked up wins in Cornbelt Conference action.

Thursday night the Raiders girls fell to Twin River Valley by a 42-30 tally, but came back on Friday to down Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne 45-42.

In Thursday’s game, Ruthven-Ayrshire battled hard but saw their offense go cold in the final quarter in the 42-30 loss. Sadie Forey led the scoring with 15 points, while Keely Williamson added five points. Faith Schmidt added four markers, with Alesha Sikora scoring three points. Caitlyn Reed chipped in two points and Shyanne Zaragosa added one point. Sadie Forey pulled down six board in the effort.

The next night, Forey collected a double-double with 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Raiders in the 45-42 win over CWL. Alesha Sikora added seven points, while Faith Schmidt kicked in six points and Caitlyn Reed added five points and dished out five helpers to the cause.

The Raider boys added a pair of wins to their total after their win Tuesday against Harris-Lake Park by a 59-51 score on Jan. 12. The win was sparked by balanced scoring from the Raiders. Mark Geelan led the way with 18 points, while Ryan Sikora added 16 points and Zach Loring scored 14 points. Logan Fischer chipped in six points, with Colton Bakken added four points and Trevin Enderson adding a free throw.

Mark Geelan grabbed nine board, while Ryan Sikora dished out six assists in the win.

Thursday night against TRV, the Raiders outdistanced the Thunder by 35 points in the 88-53 victory.

Once again, Mark Geelan led all scorers in the contest, ripping the nets for 28 points, while Ryan Sikora recorded the triple-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists on the night. Colton Bakken scored 14 points and Zach Loring added a bakers’ dozen to the coffers for Ruthven-Ayrshire. Trevin Enderson scored six points, while Mitch Schneider added five points. Logan Fischer added four tallies and Calvin Pomeroy chipped in two points.

“We played really well offensively and defensively in the first half,”?noted RA?Head Coach Randy Hough. “It was nice to get everybody into the game.”

The Raiders capped the week off with a 57-23 rout of CWL in Ruthven on Friday night.

It was another double-double, this time for Mark Geelan, with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Ryan Sikora added 20 points to the effort with eight assists and seven blocked steals on the night.

Colton Bakken had four points, while Trevin Enderson, Kyle Toillion, Damon Morris, Zach Loring and Logan Fischer all had two points in the win.

“The Raiders played well defensively and played a good first half,”?Hough noted. “It was another game when we had a good chance to get everybody some playing time.

After traveling to West Bend-Mallard on Monday night, the Raiders travel to Ventura on Friday night.
