Lady E’Hawks Battle Hard In Losses

SPIRIT?LAKE – The Lady E’Hawks of Emmetsburg have good moments and not-so-good moments during their games, but they came up short in a 51–32 loss to Spirit Lake on Friday night. The setback drops Emmetsburg to 1-10 overall and 0-7 in the Lakes Conference.

Friday featured a tough start for the Lady E’Hawks, as they trailed 10-2 after the first quarter but came back with 11 points in the second quarter for a 27-13 score at the half. In the third, Emmetsburg trailed 36-19 but got the offense going in the final quarter for 13 point sin the 51-32 final.

Paige Naig led the scoring with 15 points, while Tiffany Wollum added six and Aly Berven chipped in five points. Kaity Degen, Nicole Leuer and Justine Kummer all scored two points.

On Tuesday, the Lady E’Hawks fell to Cherokee by a 42-39 tally in one of their best outings of the season. After trailing 23-18 at the half, the Lady E’Hawks fought Cherokee through the second half and trailed 24-33 after the third quarter. In the final quarter, Emmetsburg rallied to close the margin, but came up short in a final rally to fall by three, 42-39.

Paige Naig had a career night with 22 points for the Lady E’Hawks’ offense. Kaity Degen would add seven points to the tally, while Nicole Leuer scored six points. Tiffany Wollum and Justine Kummer both added two points to the final scoring.
