RUTHVEN – Past meetings of Ruthven-Ayrshire and Harris-Lake Park have been tough outings for the Raider girls. Such was not the case on Tuesday night, as Ruthven-Ayrshire put forth a tremendous rally in the final quarter to claim a 49-42 win over HLP Tuesday night.

RA trailed 13-5 after one quarter and 25-17 at the break before trailing 34-23 after three quarters. But in the final quarter, HLP scored the first bucket and the Raiders ran wild. Ruthven-Ayrshire would outscore HLP 26-6 in the final quarter to post the thrilling 49-42 win.

I’m not sure what clicked for us in the fourth quarter,” noted RA?Head Coach Trenton Keefer. We didn’t really change anything we were doing, we just got a lot more aggressive. We were scrappy going after loose balls, we hit the glass hard, and we attacked their press rather than letting their press attack us. We really buckled down in crunch time. That’s a great testament to our team- we never give up, no matter what the situation.”

Caitlyn Reed led the scoring with 15 points, while Sadie Forey had the double-double with 15 points and 12 boards. Shyanne Zaragosa added eight points, with Alesha Sikora scoring seven. Keely Williamson had three points and Faith Schmidt scored two points in the win.
