Raiders Edge Mustangs

RUTHVEN – The Raiders of Ruthven-Ayrshire came up with a slim 53-52 victory over Armstrong-Ringsted in a Cornbelt Conference boys game played Tuesday, Jan. 5.

The Raiders struggled in the first half of the contest with ball security, as they turned the orb over on several occaisions to allow Armstrong-Ringsted to stay in the hunt. However, down the stretch in the second half, the Raiders got their defensive game back on track and made free throws down the stretch to take the win.

For Ruthven-Ayrshire, Ryan Sikora would lead the effort with 18 points on the night, while Zach Loring added 12 points to the coffers, ad did Mark Geelan. Logan Fischer and Colton Bakken both came up with four points and Trevin Enderson added three points to round out the scoring.

Defensively, Ruthven-Ayrshire got nine rebounds from Mark Geeland and Ryan Sikora, while Sikora handed out five assists on the night.

“We were a little rusty coming off the Christmas break,”?noted Ruthven-Ayrshire Head Coach Randy Hough. “We did not take care of the basketball in the first half. Defensively, we played better and we rebounded better in the second half. Armstrong-Ringsted is a much-improved basketball team.”
