Knight Wrestlers Open Second Half Of Season With Split

GRAETTINGER – The wrestling season resumed Monday night for the Graettinger/Terril Knights with a split in a double dual. The Knights defeated Sioux Center by a 48-36 tally, but lost to Spirit Lake Park by a 45-33 score.

Against Sioux Center, the Knights opened with Quinn Parker being pinned in :26 of the 285 pound match, but at 103, Tyler Dalen received a forfeit, as did Austin Thompson at 112 pounds. Connor Tonderum won at 119 with a 3:06 pin over Mario Ruiz and at 125, Trent Lundgren earned a 2:43 win by fall over Josh Olvera.

Leading24-6, the Knights got a :28 win by fall from Tym Hart, who pinned Peter Baccam in their match at 130 pounds. At 135, Ryan Schany received a forfeit win, but at 140, Heath Marchand was pinned in 3:57.

The Knights would forfeit at 145, but at 152, Michael Jensen pinned Gabe Doorninn in 1:28 to give the Knights a 42-18 lead. Palo Lazo was pinned in 2:24 of the 160 pound match and at 171, the Knights forfeited to Sioux Center to make the score 42-30. A forfeit by the Knights at 189 made the score 42-36, but at 215 pounds, Nate Howard pinned Mark Smith in 1:49 to give the Knights the 48-36 margin of victory.

Against the Indians of Spirit Lake Park, the Knights opened with Austin Thompson picking up a 5:02 win by fall over CJ Kent at 112 to open the dual. Connor Tonderum scored a 1:39 fall over Skylar Hartwig at 119 and Trent Lundgren received a forfeit win at 125 to give the Knights an 18-0 lead.

The Indians came storming back, however, as Tym Hart was pinned in 2:59 by Dylan Bryce at 130, but at 135, Zach Chicoine received a win by forfeit. At 140, Ryan Schany lost a 10-0 major decision to Rick Maris and Heath Marchand was pinned in 4:54 by Casey Jones in the 145-pound match.

Michael Jensen would score a 19-3 Technical Fall over Brandon Griffin in the 152 pound matchup but at 160, Palo Lazo was pinned in 2:39 by Andrew Brooks to make the score 29-22. The Knights would forfeit both matches at 171 and 189 pounds, putting the Indians up 34-29, and at 215 pounds, Quinn Parker was pinned by Adam Dreezen in 1:16 to give Spirit Lake Park a 40-29 advantage.

Nate Howard came back to score a 17-4 major decision win over Shae Henrichs in the 285 pound match, but at 103, Tyler Dalen lost a 15-0 Technical Fall to Doug Miner for the 33-45 final score.
