SIBLEY – The Knights of Graettinger/Terril earned a 39-36 win over Sibley-Ocheyedan in the nightcap of a double dual Tuesday night at Sibley. In the other half of the double dual, the Knights fell to Emmetsburg/Armstrong-Ringsted/Ruthven-Ayrshire by a 44-24 score.

Action started at 119 pounds where Tyler Manning earned a 5-3 decision over Cole Hieronimous and Trent Lundgren picked up a :34 win by fall over Tucker Boone in the 125 pound match.

At 130, Tymthy Hart was pinned by Tyler Reck in 3:31 of the match and Zach Chicoine was pinned by Steven Brockshus in the 135 pound match to make the score 12-9 in favor of Sibley-Ocheyedan.

Ryan Schany earned a decision victory over Jesse Glade in the 140 pound match to tie the dual up at 12-12 and at 145, Heath Marchand won an 8-3 decision over the Generals’ Marco Miranda.

Graettinger/Terril’s Michael Jensen received a win by forfeit at 152 pounds and at 160 pounds, Paolo Lazo was pinned in :58 by Taylor Block.

The Knights would forfeit the 171 pound match to the Generals, but at 189 pounds, Sibley-Ocheyedan forfeited to Nate Howard to give Graettinger/Terril a 27-24 lead.

Quinn Parker was pinned in 1:55 of the 215 pound match by Abraham Acosta and heavyweight Mitch McGrauth was pinned in :08 by Jacob Dagel to put Sibley-Ocheyedan up by a 36-27 lead.

The Knights got a big win from Tyler Dalen at 103 pounds when he pinned Brent Reed in 1:42 of the match to make the score 33-36, but the Generals would have to forfeit the 112 pound match to the Knights’ Austin Thompson, giving Graettinger/Terril the 39-36 victory.

“Again tonight we made too many mistakes and we lost some tight matches because of that,” noted Graettinger.Terril Head Coach Cody Alesch. “The kids are wrestling hard, but we just put ourselves in too many bad positions, and you can no do that against solid teams like Emmetsburg/AR/RA and Sibley-Ocheyedan.”

The Knights will host their own invitational tournament this Saturday, Jan. 9 in Graettinger.
