Emmetsburg Lady E’Hawk softball will be represented at Northwestern College in Orange City next year after an Emmetsburg Senior inked a letter of intent. Alex Lock, catcher for the Lady E’Hawks, will join the Red Raiders for the 2010-2011 softball campaign.

Lock, who helped lead Emmetsburg to the 2009 State Finals, is already being tabbed as a key addition to the Red Raiders’, according to Northwestern Head Coach Stephanie Kuhl. “Assistant Coach Dave Holsart had worked with Alex in league and kept track of her, and we’re very happy she has chosen to join the Northwestern Family.”

For Lock, the choice of a school finally came down to a couple of factors.

“I want to go into nursing, and Northwestern has a very good nursing program,” Lock said. “I also liked the closeness to home, the campus and the people, especially after I?spent a weekend on campus and met people. It was a big decision to make, but I really feel  good about it. And,  I really liked the idea that coach was a good catcher when she played college ball, and we understand each other.”
