Raider Girls Split Contests Over Weekend
RUTHVEN – Ruthven-Ayrshire’s Raider girls lost a hard-fought 48-42 contest to Woden-Crystal Lake/Titonka on Friday, but came back to defeat Armstrong-Ringsted in overtime Saturday by a 46-42 tally.
On Friday, RA trailed most of the contest but rallied to take a lead in the late going, only to falter in the late going to suffer the six-point setback.
Sadie Forey led the offensive effort with a 19 point performance, along with seven rebounds and a pair of assists.
Shyanne Zaragoza added nine points while Alesha Sikora added eight points and Caitlyn Reed came away with six tallies.
Saturday saw the Raiders play hard for the entire contest to come back and take the overtime win.
While Sadie Forey led the offense with 20 points and 16 rebounds for a double-double, Caitlyn Reed had a big night on the offense, adding 13 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Alesha Sikora added nine points and had eight boards while dishing out five assists and Keely Williamson had four points.
“”Three things really helped us pull out the win- we played great defense, we ran our half-court offense effectively and took quality shots, and we made our free throws down the stretch,” noted RA?Head Coach Trenton Keefer. “This was our best team effort by far, and the first time that we have played well for ALL four quarter of a game.
